On September 29th, the head of Bangpu village in the Sam Roi Yot district of Prachuab Khiri Khan were notified, by local fishermen, of three capsized squid fishing boats. He was told that the boats sank due to severe weather and rough seas.
Fortunately, the crews of the stricken vessels were able to swim to the safety of other boats in the area Rescuers with diving equipment rushed to the scene and spent several hours trying to raise the sunken boats. However, strong underwater currents made the task difficult and they were only able to salvage one vessel. The recovery effort will resume when it is safe to do so.
