THAILAND’S aviation sector is set to grow at a faster rate after the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) rescinded its red flag status, previously issued over safety concerns. The move indicates the ICAO’s satisfaction with the measures taken over the past 3 years by Thailand.
Chula Sukmanop, director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, confirmed on October 9th, that the ICAO has rescinded Thailand’s red flag status according to the organisation’s official website. The move will allow Thai airlines to resume and increase international flight services.
However, Thai airlines still won’t be able to fly to the US after Thai Airways International, Bangkok-Los Angeles flight, was suspended by Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, in October 2015. All 28 Thai airlines are expected to resume the international service by this December.
