Early on October 15th, Satit Chantarangsi, a 55 year old Thai man who lost the use of his legs 12 ago after a high fall, left Phitsanulok Province 419 km. north of Bangkok, in a wheelchair, heading to Bangkok. His journey is expected to take 9 days and he aims to arrive at the Grand Palace in time for the royal funeral of the late King Bhumibol Aduljadej.

Following his accident, Sathit received medical treatment granted by the late King. Previously, to show his gratitude and after he regained his strength, Sathit rode his wheelchair all the way to Bangkok’s Siriraj Hospital where, at the time, His Majesty was receiving treatment.
