On October 20th, more than 4,000 volunteers from the Miracle of Life Foundation, Bangkok officials, members of the fresh flower wholesale community and Hmong people from Thailand’s Tak province turned the busy road around Bangkok’s famous fresh flower market into “The Road of Flowers”. The 400 meter display is to commemorate the late HM King Bhumibol of Thailand. All 6 pavilions are decorated with a mix of over 4 million flowers, including marigold, lotus and orchids. Each pavilion represents the close relationship between the king and his people, including his work to convert northern poppy farming into fields of flowers and crops. Thousands of local and foreign visitors are being drawn to the spectacle day and night. The Road of flowers will last until Thursday, the day of the Royal Cremation.
